CATS: The Jellicle Ball

Rather than call this a revival of Cats, it’s best to call Cats: The Jellicle Ball a reinvention that is brought to life through the struts, and acrobatics flashing down a runway. Originally devised for the underground LGBTQ ball culture,  the movement style is designed to applaud the individuals who form a devoted and fiercely competitive family of hair raising talent.

Indeed, everything is large at the ball — the hair, the fans, the raised eyebrows, and nothing –as they say–is left on the ground.

At its core, the Jellicle Ball is as much about the original Andrew Lloyd Webber music as it is about the choreography by Omari Wiles (House of Nina Oricci) and Arturo Lyons (House of Miyake-Mugler) all whipped into a vivacious piece of theater by directors Zhaillon Levingston and Bill Rauch.

It’s truly a night of wildness and mirth and not to be missed.
