A timely production, Good Night and Good Luck, peers at the golden age of broadcast journalism, when newscasters were bonified truth sayers. When they spoke, the public listened, and more importantly, believed what they said.
In the midst of the “Red Scare” during the “McCarthy” era, Senator Joseph McCarthy zealously made it his mission to “out” communists and radicals. The carpet bombing strategy ruined countless innocent people’s lives.
This terrifying attempt to purge the country vile elements severly hit the arts community. In the end, the one man who had the country’s ear and could kneecap McCarthy through his TV program was the titanic journalist, Edward R. Murrow.
Originally a critically lauded black and white film, Good Night and Good Luck has transferred to Broadway featuring Goeroge Clooney in his Broadway debut as Edward R. Murrow with Will Dagger as his astute producer Don Hewitt.
Under the direction of Tony Award®-winner David Cromer, from the original screenwriters Clooney and Grant Heslov, Good Night, and Good Luck chronicles a time in American history when truth prevailed.
