Considered the epitome of a Cunningham dancer, Carolyn Brown attributed her success with the Cunningham Company to her early work with the consequential choreographer Antony Tudor and Ceccheti trained teacher Margaret Craske. In 1987 Brown appeared on EYE ON DANCE along with Lance Westergard, a Tudor inspired dancer/teacher and Kathleen Moore, ABT dancer featured in Tudor works.
When asked about major influences, Brown draws a direct line between her grasp of the body as an intellectual instrument equally expressive in silence and motion and her classes with Tudor. In this 1987 EOD clip, moderator Celia Ipiotis asks Brown to recall one memorable quote from Tudor.
