NONA HENDRYX TO HIGHLIGHT THE OPENING NIGHT OF THE APAP|NYC 2025 CONFERENCE ON JANUARY 10thThe Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) is pleased to announce that Nona Hendryx will appear at the APAP|NYC 2025’s conference’s Opening Plenary on Friday, January 10 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the New York Hilton Midtown.
The acclaimed art-rock vocalist, composer, technologist and multidisciplinary artist will have a fireside chat with Shanta Thake, Ehrenkranz Chief Artistic Officer at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. As previously announced, Hendryx will receive an APAP Honors Award on January 13th (here). APAP is also sharing updates about four noteworthy events that will occur during the conference that takes place from January 10th-14th.

A Conversation with Seth Godin (Saturday, January 11, 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m.)willinclude a book signing following the acclaimed New York Times bestselling author’s presentation. Session attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Godin’s new book This is Strategy: Make Better Plans (while supplies last). Books are being provided with the support of longtime APAP member and donor Alice North. New Time: Advocating Post-Election: What You Need to Know Now.(Saturday, January 11, from 9:00-10:30 a.m.) will feature Matthew Covey (Covey Law), Christopher Fisher (Spinnaker Government Relations), Nathaniel Marro (National Independent Talent Organization), Heather Noonan (League of American Orchestras), Stephen Parker (National Independent Venue Association), and Claire Rice (Arts Alliance Illinois). Speakers announced: Arts RX: Aligning Arts and Public Health (Sunday, January 12, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) will feature the research and practice of the arts as a resource that can make a significant impact in a holistic approach to health management. Speakers include Tasha Golden (Consultant), Sarah Johnson and Ian Koebner (Carnegie Hall), Sean Jones (Renowned Jazz Trumpeter), Aly Lokuta (New Jersey Performing Arts Center), Nisha Sajnani (Drama Therapy Program and Founding Co-Director, Jameel Arts & Health Lab, NYU), and Mark Wilson (Zoellner Arts Center).
Newly added: The Future of Performing Arts Funding: A Conversation with National U.S. Funders (Sunday, January 12, from 3:30-4:45 p.m.) will highlight findings from a recent arts funders report (here) that examines the landscape of performing arts funding and the implications for the future. Representatives from Doris Duke Foundation, Ford Foundation, Mellon Foundation, and Wallace Foundation will join the conversation.
