Background
In 1992 Celia Ipiotis produced a series of EYE ON DANCE programs investigating the topic of “Musicians and Dancers.” (c) ARC Videodance, 1992.
Although many tap dancers pointed to the demise of tap dance during the bebop era, Jimmy Slyde was one of the few who continued to dance with a variety of bands.
Slyde and Harris were good pals, and of course, Harris was known as a phenomenal teacher so Ipiotis invited the two of them to appear on the show which aired on PBS in 1992 to discuss the relationship of bebop to tap dance.
